Bloomstruck Hydrangea shrub flowers beautiful

Bloomstruck Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) is a lovely shrub loved for its large multicolor blooms that make a bold splash in any summer garden.
Reblooming every July and August, the shrub produces gorgeous mounds of flower heads that vary from violet-blue to rose, depending on the soil. Blooming on both old and new wood, these stunning blossoms are held up by strong red stems, a welcome contrast to the accenting green foliage. After the flowers fall in the autumn, these green leaves darken to burgundy to match their stems.

Since the soil pH determines the color of your Hydrangea blooms, here is a trick to achieve your desired hue. Add aluminum sulfate to make the soil more acidic for blue to purple blooms.
