Vintage David Taylor Model Basin DTMB 50th Anniversary Commemorative Hat 1937-1986 Hot RARE!. Made by Designer Award Headware back in 1987 as a Commemorative item for attendees of the 50th Anniversary celebration for what was at tbe time the Largest and Best Test Facility for ship and hull design in the entire United States. To date it is still considered on of the best facilites ever built for this purpose.

The David Taylor Model Basin (DTMB) is one of the largest ship model basins—test facilities for the development of ship design—in the world. DTMB is a field activity of the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center.
