Masamune Shirow
Manga artist and illustrator. Born in Hyogo Prefecture. Published Black Magic in the doujinshi Atlas. Made his manga debut with the single-volume Apple Seed in 1985. Released the Ghost in the Shell comics in 1991, which gained high popularity overseas. Representative works include Apple Seed and Ghost in the Shell.

Mamoru Oshii
Born in Tokyo in 1951. Film director and director. Joined Tatsunoko Production, moved to Studio Pierrot, and later worked on the Mobile Police Patlabor series. In 2004, Innocence was nominated for the Cannes International Film Festival competition section, and in 2008, The Sky Crawlers was nominated for the Venice International Film Festival competition section.
