This standard covers two classes of round, cold-drawn steel spring wire, suitable for manufacturing mechanical springs, rings, and wire forms under low stress or fatigue conditions. Steel specimens must be either ingot cast or strand cast. Cast or heat and product analysis is required, ensuring steel materials meet specified chemical compositions of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. Specimens must also pass tension and wrap tests, adhering to tensile property requirements.
