Small Keepsake Urn (12 Cu. In.) Made From Stabilized Figured Maple

Lidded vessel/keepsake urn turned on a wood lathe from stabilized maple with excellent figure. The threaded top is an epoxy cast of natural edge burl. The threaded opening is 3/4" dia.

This lidded vessel/small urn is 3 3/4" dia. x 4" high and weighs 4.6 oz. and will hold 12 cu. inches of remains (approx. 12 lbs. live weight). Wood is finished with multiple coats of satin lacquer sanded in between coats. It is then buffed and polished with a micro-crystalline wax by hand. It is recommended you give it a light buff with a soft dry tissue when you dust.

Stabilizing is a process of infusing a stabilizing solution with a vacuum into the wood which is then baked at 200 degrees to a solid. This increases the hardness and density (doubles the weight) of wood that has lost its structural integrity. Multiple dyes were added to the solution producing a beautiful random color effect in the wood. Item is brand new/never used.
