UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE ULTIMATE BITLESS BRIDLE (UBB) Single Rein Stability. The UBB was developed with stability as a primary goal. It will never twist or shift position when a single rein is pulled, a feature which no other bitless bridle can replicate. Freedom. No cinched components. The UBB’s design eliminates the common chin strap and throat latch with it’s patented double cross under strap system. This means that the horse can fully open its mouth to release and lick and chew or graze, which no other bridle will allow the horse to do. Communication. When a single rein is pulled, pressure is transferred from the first ring on the first noseband to the second ring on the second noseband. This distributes pressure on opposing sides of the face creating pressure points which mimic the bit. Much less pressure is transferred up to the poll as opposed to similar bitless bridles. The UBB’s poll pressure is on the same side as the rein pressure unlike other cross under strap type bitless bridles. Versatility. The UBB is multifunctional. It can function as a halter by clipping into both reinstrap rings or be used to drive and lunge without any adjustments needed, another feature unique to this bridle. 4 C'S - CONTROL, COMFORT, COMMUNICATION & CONNECTION 1) Control The Ultimate Bitless Bridle provides total control of the horse's head through the points created when a single rein is pulled, which mimic the pressure points created by the bit, thus making it easy for most horses to transition into. *Note: This is the only bitless bridle which will stay in place when a single rein is pulled without any permanently 'cinched' components.* Pulling on a single reinstrap applies pressure to the first ring on the horses's nose (1), then to the second ring on the opposite side of the nose (2), then to the poll (3), causing it to turn in the direction pulled. Pulling on both reinstraps cinches the noseband in place, causing the horse to slow down or stop. This unique and Patented design focuses most of the pressure on the nose area, with significantly less pressure transferred to the poll than other comparable bitless bridles. 2) Comfort The distinguishing features of the Ultimate Bitless Bridle are the double noseband and double cross under strap system. This dynamic feature provides total freedom for the horse's head without sacrificing rider safety, since no component is permanently fastened down (like traditional throat latches and chin straps). This is the only bridle of it's kind which gives release, the moment the horse releases, and only cinches down when the rider is communicating through the reins. 3) Communication How does a bridle communicate with a horse? By transmitting the rider's intention from the reins to the horse's head. The difference between the Ultimate Bitless Bridle and other bridles is how the bridle acts on the head to create the desired communication. The bridle creates a series of pressure points as shown in the picture ('pulling on a single rein'). Unlike other similar bitless bridles, the pressure is focused on the two nosebands (which mimic bit pressure) with less pressure being exerted on the poll area. Since there is no permanently 'cinched' component, the horse has a chance to fully release, because when the rider releases tension in the reins, the two cinch points under the nose release, providing a feeling of freedom unequaled in any other bridle. 4) Connection Connection is achieved when the horse willingly pushes its head into the bridle. Simply put, it is the desire of the horse to 'connect' or listen to the rider. It is a mutual seeking of greater harmony between horse and rider. The Ultimate Bitless Bridle offers a new level of freedom and comfort and thus a totally clear understanding of the rider's intention. Putting on the bridle To put on the bridle, grasp both nosebands and the crownpiece in one hand and then loosen up the bridle by pulling outwards, so there is plenty of room for horse's nose. Pull the bridle over the nose, holding the two nosebands in place (so they don't fall off the nose) while you bring the crownpiece up over the ears. Finish by taking any slack out of the crossunder reinstraps. Adjusting the cheek straps Adjust the cheek straps to make sure the double nosebands lie within the 'safe area' of the nose (within 1” of the Cheek bone protrusion, see picture below). The nose bone diminishes and turns into cartilage as you travel downwards, so be careful to avoid this delicate area at the front of the nose. The cheek straps can be trimmed if there is excess. To trim: cut with scissors and then melt the ends with a lighter or match, to prevent frying of the ends. Rein attachment Any reins can be attached to the rings at the end of the cross under reinstraps. We recommend lightweight reins with snap ends or scissor clips. Adjusting the Reinstrap length Reins are attached to the metal rings at the end of the cross under reinstraps. The reinstraps should be shortened by retying the double fisherman knots (see below or on our website) to where they meet lightly below the jaw, to prevent your horse from stepping through the reinstraps when lunging or leading. Excess reinstrap cord should be trimmed and the ends melted with a match or lighter, but be sure to leave enough slack in the reinstraps for putting on the bridle. Cross tie tack up and Tying up The UBB is well suited for tacking up your horse in cross ties or tying them up, just hook into the metal rings at the end of the reinstraps. Lunging and Driving The Ultimate Bitless Bridle requires no adjustments to lunge or drive. Lunging is super easy (just hook your lunge line into both reinstrap rings) and perfectly suited to the Ultimate Bitless Bridle. An alternative lunging method is possible with your reins still attached to the reinstrap rings. Secure your reins to the saddle, either looped under your stirrups or attached to your d-ring/bucking strap and then attach the lunge line to the inside ring. Make sure your reins are attached at the saddle, so there is no possibility of your horse stepping through the reins. Driving or ground driving is very easy accomplished by hooking your driving reins to the bridle reinstraps. The UBB is the only bridle which allows you to lunge or drive on a single rein and not have to worry about the bridle twisting on the nose. Why use a bitless bridle......? Bitless bridles can provide a simple, non-invasive, means of communicating with the horse to allow connection and freedom. Most people notice an instant change in their horses' performance and demeanor when switched to a bitless bridle. Numerous physiological and psychological problems found in the horse can be linked to the bit due to its interference with normal breathing and its infliction of pain. In short, the horse is a nose breather and is designed to have its lips tightly sealed when exercising. Anything that breaks the mouth seal (i.e. - a bit) starts a process of neurological conflict in the horse. Why? When the mouth is open, the brain signals the parasympathetic nervous system into action, which is eat, rest, relax and digest. When the horse is running, exercising, or exerting itself the mouth is naturally sealed shut and the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated into action. People are unknowingly creating this conflict when they put a bit into the horses' mouth and ask it to exercise. The bit breaks the mouth seal, stimulating the parasympathetic system (eat, rest, digest) and yet the rider is asking the horse to exercise which is the OPPOSITE, sympathetic system. It is a conflict of the nervous systems which can be linked as the starting point for literally hundreds of problems/diseases in the horse
